The METH Epidemic
Meth - or 'Crystal Meth' as it is also called - is probably the most addictive drug that exists. What is even more dangerous: it is cheap and can actually be produced with ingredients of legally sold medications.
Because of that, it has become the biggest drug problem in the united states, whith rates of addictions rising and falling during the last two centuries.
How can the numbers be falling, if the drug is so addictive? Scientists discovered, that the purity of the drug has also been changing during the last few years. The purer the Meth is, the more addictive it gets.
This is one of the findings that are being presented in this fascinating, yet shocking PBS Frontline documentary.
Four parts, each about 15 minutes long. Featuring the history of the drug, it's effect on the brain, case studies of addictives and also places and ways that help them to recover.
